It's been five years today since we lost Mumma Shoo to cancer, so I thought I'd share a song that Papa Shoo and I wrote last year. I'm playing at Thekla Bristol on 23rd September to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support who helped us and Mum throughout her illness and to the end. Tickets are £10 and you can either buy them from me or from here: http://www.alttickets.com/macmillan-fest-2017-thekla-2017-0… Event page: Macmillan Fest 2017 - Bristol Emma xxx Just before Christmas I went to Banbury to film and record an acoustic version of my song Fly with Oak Sessions at a venue called Also Known As! See below for the video! Wahoo! It's finally here! Emma Shoosmith - Live at the Blue Lagoon 2016!! Available on Bandcamp here It's free but you can pay more if you like!! Enjoy xxx I'm super excited to announce that I will be supporting Sam Eason at his SOLD OUT EP launch gig in January at St. James Wine Vaults in Bath!!
In October Sam decided that he will write , record and release a new EP without having songs ready. Having a deadline for this project gives him some motivation and inspiration to write 5 new songs. I'm really looking forward to supporting him and hearing his new songs! (EDIT: can you tell I'm on essay writing brain??!! Hahah!) What another great night!! We went to see the amazing Corinne Bailey Raeand Jodie Abacus last night at Colston Hall and they both have so much energy that Emily and I just couldn't help but dance the whole evening! I've had such an inspiring weekend so far. Never mind I haven't done any uni work and there are deadlines looming, but the inspiration has well and truly been topped up!
Hope you all had a great weekend too so far xxx What. A. Night!! Despite running on only 3 hours sleep I had such a great night!
Thank you so much to Victoria Hall for inviting me to play and to everyone who said lovely things to me. You're all the best! Here 2/3s of the #shoocrew with the fantastic Wildwood Kin!! (The hat is super comfy 10/10 would recommend) Yesterday I had a lovely morning with the kids from Welton Primary School playing a few songs for them and having a chat! Best moment when a lot of the kids started singing along to my version of Let It Go from Frozen! ❄️ ❄️ These kids got good taste!! The only reason I started playing guitar was because my Year 1 teacher, Mrs Arnold, brought in a guitar one lesson and I automatically wanted to learn it. Music education and inspiration is so important especially nowadays where funding is getting cut.
I hope I inspired a few of the kids yesterday to pick up an instrument or sing or write songs! Thank you for being lovely Welton Primary!! xx 15th - 17th July 2016 | Halsway Manor Songwriting Retreat with Reg Meuross and Laurie Shepherd I've been going through a bit of a dry spell with writing songs recently, probably because of being busy writing essays at uni - no one really wants to hear essays as a song! But it was really great to have a chance to get away to a beautiful part of Somerset to write a few songs and feel inspired again. I met some incredibly creative, inspiring people too! This was a well needed getaway weekend, and I'm really happy with the few half songs that were written during this weekend. I can't wait to show you all the final pieces! |
